Marketing themselves as a ’boutique’ airline, Bangkok Airways operate a number of domestic and regional flights. Onboard, they still offer complimentary hot food and an experience considerably better than most short-haul economy products. Perhaps most interestingly, they also operate a number of lounges which are accessible to their economy passengers. The largest of these can be found at their Bangkok Suvarnabhumi hub.
Bangkok Airways Economy Lounge Bangkok (Domestic) Location and Access
Access rules for the Bangkok Airways Economy Lounge are very simple. If you have an economy ticket with Bangkok Airways, you can gain access. There are two lounges – one for international departures, and one for domestic. In this review, I’ll be covering the domestic lounge.
If you have a business class ticket, Bangkok Airways offer a separate ‘Blue Ribbon’ lounge.
Suvarnabhumi can be a little difficult to navigate, however, finding your way around the domestic section of the airport is slightly more straightforward. The Bangkok Airways Economy Lounge is located on level 2, concourse A, opposite gate A3.
We were flying to Koh Samui on the first flight of the day from Bangkok – 6:15am. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if the lounge would open early enough for us to use it. I was pleasantly surprised though. The lounge is open daily from 4:30am until 21:30pm.
Bangkok Airways Economy Lounge Bangkok (Domestic) Space & Interior
First impressions were good. The lounge occupies a large amount of space, and there is plenty of seating. We arrived at the lounge shortly after it opened, and as you’d expect at such an early hour, the lounge was relatively empty. While I’m sure it feels much busier as the day progresses, during our visit it felt much more relaxed than the main terminal.
I’m not entirely sure how well Bangkok Airways advertise the availability of the lounge. No one mentioned anything to us during check-in, and when we went to the gate, it was very busy with people waiting who I hadn’t previously seen in the lounge.
As this is an economy lounge, my expectations weren’t particularly high. Bangkok Airways are already offering more than the vast majority of airlines by providing lounge access at all.
I can confidently say, however, that the lounge does offer a nicer space to wait than the main terminal, and the seating is more comfortable. The interior is nothing fancy, but to be honest, I’ve been to worse looking Priority Pass lounges.
There are a few different seating areas. One big flaw was the lack of power sockets. It was a challenge to find any and Bangkok Airways could do with trying to resolve this. The wifi worked fine though and was better than the free airport wifi.
Food and Drinks at the Bangkok Airways Economy Lounge
Given the time of my visit, my primary concern was the availability of drinkable coffee. Fortunately, the lounge is home to 3 different coffee machines, all of which offer a good selection of options. In addition, iced tea and coffee machines were available, as well as a water dispenser and orange juice.

In terms of food, options were fairly basic – including sandwiches, cupcakes, popcorn and a warm cheese and spinach pastry. It’s important to remember that Bangkok Airways provide a hot meal onboard – which is better than the offering in the lounge. While none of the food options were particularly appealing to me, it’s better than nothing and it’s important to keep things in context.

Conclusions
The Bangkok Airways Economy Lounge Bangkok (Domestic) is a more pleasant space to wait than the main terminal. Typically, I aim to get to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport with plenty of time to spare. While not so much of a problem for a 6:15am departure, traffic between the city and airport can be very heavy. This means I sometimes have a longer wait than ideal at the airport – so having somewhere comfortable to spend the time is important!
Of course, this lounge isn’t anything like an airline business class lounge – and it’s not claiming to be. It’s a pretty unique feature of flying Bangkok Airways though and a good option for a free pre-flight coffee and a more comfortable place to sit, if nothing else.
