Pullman Kuala Lumpur Accor Hotel

This was my second visit to the Pullman Kuala Lumpur Centre, and like my last stay, I left impressed. Since my last visit, just under two years ago, the hotel has gone under an extensive renovation. It now offers a very high level of service and comfort in a very central location.

Arrival

We arrived in the evening, and were invited to check-in at the club lounge, due to Le Club Accor Platinum status. Check-in was an efficient process, and we were informed that we’d been given a complimentary upgrade to an Executive Club Room. As we arrived during the complimentary evening drinks reception (6pm – 8pm), it was suggested it might be better we check-in, and head straight into the lounge for drinks, which we did.

The Room

Our room was well appointed, and recently renovated. As standard at Pullman, the bed was particularly comfortable (so much so, getting up in the morning was just a little bit harder…). A welcome letter was waiting, which welcomed me back (which I thought was a nice touch) as well as a complimentary cake. Plenty of complimentary water was provided, and the bathroom amenities were of a high quality. Internet was fast, and reliable and perfectly fine for working.

The highlight, however, was the magnificent view over to the Petronas Towers. This was dramatic during the day, but at night it was even more so. I’d definitely recommend trying to get a room on this side of the hotel during your stay.

Leisure

The Pullman benefits from an outdoor pool, which was a great place to hang-out. During our stay, it was never particularly busy. It was a nice place to relax after a day of working and sightseeing. The hotel also has a spa, although we didn’t try it out on this occasion.

Bars and Lounges

The hotel features a restaurant and bar, a club lounge, and an additional bar by the pool. We didn’t try out the restaurant, but did try out the pool bar. We we used our complimentary drinks voucher here. Again, it was a nice place to spend some time enjoying a cocktail, and the staff were particularly good.

The lounge was very well appointed, having also been recently refurbished. The food offering was quite different to my last stay, where there was a hot and cold buffet. Now, the hotel offers a cold buffet. There are also hot canapΓ©s, which are served at your table. I slightly preferred the buffet arrangement of old.Β  Although I enjoyed the canapΓ©s, there were a couple I wasn’t a huge fan of, and wouldn’t normally have chosen – but it’s a small complaint.

The drinks selection was very good, and featured a couple of different varieties of red and white wine. There was also a prosecco, as well as a good range of spirits, such as Bombay Sapphire gin. Again, the staff in the lounge were all very pleasant. It was a relaxed place to spend an hour or so before heading out for the evening.

Breakfast was included in our rate, as it is for all Le Club Accor Platinum members in Asia Pacific. Due to a late night with friends on the Saturday, and an early flight on the Monday, we weren’t able to try it. If it’s anything like my last stay, it would have been to a very high standard.

Local Area

In terms of location, it’d be hard to fault the Pullman. A walk to the Petronas Towers is a pleasant 10 – 15 minutes. There’s a shopping centre barely five minutes away with a good selection of places to eat, and it’s well served by public transport (although grab works fairly well, and is very cheap, if you prefer).

Recommended?

Whenever I’m back in Kuala Lumpur (a city I have always enjoyed visiting), I’ll stay at the Pullman Kuala Lumpur Centre. The stay was relaxed, the service excellent, and the rooms furnished to a very high standard.

As a side note, on my first night, I managed to forget my phone in the back of a grab car. I didn’t notice until the next day, but the driver returned it to the hotel, and the Pullman kept it safe for me until I was able to retrieve it – I was impressed.

All in all, a great place to stay in KL.
